I Brake for Summertime Fruit!

Hello!  Yesterday, I had a lot of fun playing with this cute fruit stamp set.  We have been eating wonderful cherries and watermelons, so it seems like the perfect time of year for this card.  

I colored the Fun Fruits, set of 4, with alcohol markers.  I did want to mention how I choose colors.  I colored just the fruits first and kept the markers that I was using out on my desk.  

Then, when I went to color the rest of the frames, I tried to pick only markers I already had out.  This is the easiest way, for me, to keep my cards harmonious and not too busy.  I think I only used 8 markers total.

I Brake for.....Lemons!

Hello stampers - Nancy here!!  Today I have a bright and cheery card to get you thinking about warm weather and summertime.

The card uses the great Lemons and Phrase Set, found here.  

It can also be found as part of a larger set called MS86 Full Plate, found here.

I colored the image with copics, just three markers in the Yellow range and two in the Green range did the trick.  I also tried to "stipple" the markers on the lemons to get a dimpled appearance.  Not sure if that really shows up in the photo, but it looks good irl!

Some patterned paper and a green ribbon pull it all together!  Now I am ready for lemons!  We have a lemon tree in the backyard and I look forward to getting the fruit each year.

I Brake For....CANNING JARS!

Hello stampers - Nancy here today!!  I hope everything is going well with you, wherever you may be.  We are just a couple of weeks away from the official start of spring - are you feeling any warm weather yet?

My card for today is more about summer and fall than spring...do any of you can fruits and vegetables?  My husbands family used to do a lot of canning, but my family never really got into it.  But I saw this adorable stamp and had to have it.

The stamp is called Canning Jars and can be found HERE.

I colored the image with prisma pencils and used a stitched rectangle die to cut it out.  A scallop border punch and banner tag dies were also used to embellish the card. I found the yellow polka dot paper in my stash - have had it for years and thought the color was perfect for the card.

I Brake For.....Strawberries!!!

Hello IBFS fans!! Nancy here today and I have a sweet and luscious card to share with you today!

So...how do you like some strawberries?

This wonderful stamp from is called, of course, Strawberries and can be found here.  The image is nicely illustrated with shading to help you when you color .  I stamped it with memento black ink and colored  it with copics.  Although I used 4 red copic markers on the berries it went really fast.  I added some highlights on the seed portions with a white pen.  (BTW, if anyone ever invents a white pen that doesn't have to be constantly shaken  to work, or one that does not dry out after a few months they will end up being very rich!!)

I used a stitched rectangle die for the main piece, and a silhouette file  scalloped rectangle in the background.  Some patterned paper on the bottom was topped with a red gingham ribbon and green button.

On a personal note...we lived in California for many years before moving to Florida.  We were next to a city that was known for its strawberry fields and each year at harvest time, starting in March, you could buy flats of fresh, ready to eat strawberries direct from the farms at roadside stands for next to nothing.  It was wonderful!  We would have smoothies, shortcake, and all sorts of wonderful strawberry filled treats.  I do miss being able to get such a deal here where we live.

I Brake For ....Large Pears

Hello stampers  - Nancy here today!!  I hope your Memorial Day weekend was nice and as the unofficial start of summer I hope you had some wonderful weather to enjoy the long weekend.

Today I have a beautifully illustrated stamp to show you.  It is called Large Pears and can be found here on the IBFS store.

I love fresh fruit - especially in the summertime.  We have lemon, orange, and plum trees in our yard but no pear - the weather is simply too hot for pears.  And have you ever had pear ice cream?  Oh it is delicious.  I was at a dinner where the host had homemade pear ice cream and served it with rum pound cake (also homemade).  The combination of the flavors of pear and rum was just delightful!!

The  Large Pear image was stamped with Memento Ink and colored with copics.  I tried several color combinations and decided the green looked best.

I went back and forth on how much embellishing for this card.  The image itself is large so you can only do so much before your card gets too big to handle. On cards like this I tend to leave a sentiment off because the image can be used for a variety of occasions .  Perhaps just a "thinking of you" would work well.  I took the brad used on the card and colored it with a brown copic to coordinate with the other browns used.

I Brake For...Peaches!! And a Freebie!

Hello stampers.  Nancy here  and happy Wednesday where it is my turn to show you a beautiful, juicy and ripe stamp.  Do you like peaches?  I LOVE them and IBFS has them!!  Here is my piece:

It showcases the beautifully drawn stamp called Peaches, available here,  and it  is also available as part of a larger set called MS58 Full Sheet which includes not just this peach image but pears, melons and grapes as well.  That large set can be found here.

This stamp works well for a card front but I ended up making a framed piece for my craft room.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with copics.  Love how it turned out and I think I can use this image to practice my copic coloring.  I can see coloring this in various shades of red, pink, yellow and orange. making the fruit lighter or darker in color.

Now, I have a freebie for you!  The text that you see around the frame was created by me using a bunch of different fonts.  I printed it out on kraft cardstock and changed the transparency down to about 60% so that it would not overwhelm the main image.  If you want the background for your personal use here it is:
