I Brake For....Hooks and Line!

Hello stampers - Nancy here today!!  I hope the weather is starting to warm up wherever you are - it's been a wild winter this year!
I have a cute card for all the fishing fans out there..

The main image is called Hooks and Lines and can be found HERE.
This is such a great stamp and I did something with it that some of you may not have done before - I cut the stamp up!  I knew I wanted to use the images in a variety of ways  - it started as one stamp and ended up being a group of individual stamps - take a look:

Don't be afraid to cut up stamps - I have never regretted any that I have taken apart.
I stamped the lures using a stamp positioner and colored them with copics.  Once the coloring was complete I cut a generic fish shape using a Silhouette cut file and stamped a birthday sentiment on it.

Then I pulled out another stamp set called Luncheon Meat - fund HERE - and stamped one of the fish images, colored it, cut it out and popped it up on the front.

I used a bunch of prisma pencils to color the lures,,,,,

I hope you hope on over to the IBFS store where there are a nice variety of fishing and lure images.  Perfect for Father's Day, or for anyone who likes fishing!

Thanks for stopping by today!

I Brake for...Fly Fishing!

Happy Sunday, readers!

I went out of my comfort zone a little to bring you this incredibly detailed scene! I was searching around the I Brake For Stamps website, exploring the WIDE variety of stamps they have when I found THIS stamp set. I was SO excited about it! Both my father and my brother fish, more my brother, but I thought it would make a lovely birthday card for my father's upcoming birthday!

For highly detailed images, like this one, when you first stamp it onto paper it can seem quite a bit daunting, to figure out what all is going on in the image. One thing that I learned when I was a scenic artist for theater, was to start painting what you know. As you fill the image in with color you'll start to understand other elements that are happening in the image. For me, I started with the trees in the background, the sky, and the fisherman. The midground, in this image, is really busy and fairly confusing, however that shouldn't prevent anyone from giving it a go! Just keep working the images you understand, and before long you'll have painted the entire picture!

I loved painting the incredible detail in this image, it made for a really fun time exploring how the different greens, browns, and blues, reacted towards each other.

In various stamping Facebook groups I often see people struggle with masculine cards, there are QUITE a few options in the I Brake For Stamps selections, this Fly Fisherman stamp is just one example of the wide variety they offer. I am sure my father, like most outdoorsman, will love this card!

Brake For....Bass Fish

Hello stampers - Nancy here today and time  to show you another  great stamp   This one is called Bass Fish,  Here is my card.

Let me tell you that I love the size of this image.  Big enough to fill a card and great for coloring.  When I first saw this image I thought it would make a great masculine card - and perfect for Father's Day for those men who love to fish.  Then I thought....I know several women who love to fish as well - just as much as the guys.  This would make a great card for those women!  It made me realize that I have to get past the old traditional "if it's a fish its masculine, if it's a flower its feminine" thinking.  In fact, I used to work with a guy who had the most amazing flower garden in his backyard.  I could definitely send him a floral card and not feel funny about it.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with copics.  I sponged some Memento Cantaloupe ink around the edges.  On the base card the text "GO FISH" is computer generated.

The Bass Fish stamp can be found here. I hope you hop on over to the IBFS store and take a look at the thousands of stamps available.

Thanks for stopping by today!
