I Brake for Sunflowers!

 Hello and happy Saturday!

Today I'm sharing a sunshiny card that has no purpose yet.

It may become a birthday card or a thinking of you card...you never know.

I used MS91 to make my card.

I'm torn...a couple weeks ago I made a card with a branch and bee for my son's girlfriend's October birthday.  Her favorite flower is the sunflower though.  Decisions, decisions...I think I'll show them both to him and let him decide what she'd like the most.

I live in the country and have deer and squirrels galore.  I rarely have a sunflower actually bloom but this year I was lucky enough to have several. (well...5)  That's a pretty big accomplishment for my yard.  I'm in love with this wonderful stamp sheet and all the beautiful flowers and leaves.  Check it out at I Brake for Stamps here.

I Brake for Outdoorsy Dogs!

Hello from designer, Heidi!  I just love the wonderful detailed scenes that I Brake for Stamps carries.  Many of them are very appropriate for masculine cards.  Check out the search for “Masculine” and see what you think...

This stamp is called Asleep on the Deck.  I have several recipients in mind who are going to love this scene!

I made a bit of an abstract background for this scene.  I used glossy paper and swiped my inkpads randomly across the paper.  When you wipe the excess ink off, it blends them just so.  You can always repeat the process if you want to add a little more here or there.  Then I stamped right over top with black Memento ink.

I am not sure what occasion I am sending this for, so I left the sentiment off for now. I do think I it could work well for a dog sympathy card.

Thanks for visiting!  Keep on stamping!

I Brake for Shy Bears!

 Hello and Happy Monday!

I thought I'd share a cheerful card to start the week out.

One of my co-workers just started in a new position and I wanted to send her a little note to cheer her on.

I used Mailbox Shy Bear.

The sentiment is from Every Day Phrases.

My friend is in a new school due to Covid-19.  With the need to social distance in the classrooms there was a need to add a teacher to each grade level.  She's enjoying her new room but in these new and trying times I just wanted her to know that I'm thinking of her.

I Brake for Safari!

Hello from designer, Heidi!  I just love this wonderful Safari stamp. I have used it before on the blog and it just is such a great illustration.

This time, I created a background on glossy paper.  I used my mini dye ink cubes, and pressed them directly onto the paper and twisted them so I didn’t get harsh edges. I wiped the excess ink from the paper and then stamped over top with memento ink.

I finished the card as a Clean and Simple look, by matting with black cardstock and adding a sentiment underneath.

The stamps I used are Pride of Africa and sentiment from Inspirational Phrases. Check them out at the I Brake for Stamps store!

Thanks for visiting today and keep on stamping!

I Brake for blue flowers!

 Hello and happy Saturday!

Today I'm sharing a pretty card that could be used for several different occasions.

I used Half Sheet 137A and the butterfly is from Things with Wings.

The verse is called Hold on to Each Other.

I masked of the center square and sponged to different color blue inks.  I then used a blue bister stain powder to make the dark splotches.

I Brake for Gelli plates and stamps!

Hello from design team member, Heidi!

Today, I would like to show you the results of a simple stamping technique using a gelli plate.  I will first just tell you my process. I applied Distress Oxide ink in a few colors of pink and orange to a gelli plate. I used a brayer, just to even out the ink.

Then, I pressed this large background (5x7 inches) stamp over the gelli plate and removed it.  I made a print of what was left on the gelli plate (center), and then also stamped what remained on the stamp to make another print (right).

This is really fun and fast to do!  The gelli plate not only allows you to make two prints with every stamp, but it also adds a lot of texture you wouldn’t get if you just stamped the traditional way.

So, I made a bunch of prints and then made several cards out of them.  Some of the prints I didn’t like as well, so I either cut them down and used the area I liked.  Or, I stamped flowers over the print and cut them out like it was patterned paper.

The background stamp I used is Huge Floral Background, but you could use any of the great background stamps the I Brake for Stamps carries.

The sentiments all came from Inspirational Plate #2.

The flowers are from Floral Half Sheet.

Thank you for visiting!

I Brake for Bees and Branches!

 Hello and happy Saturday!

Today I'm sharing a birthday card with you.

I've used Branch with Flowers for my main image.

The ladybug and bee are from Things with Wings sheet.
Happy Birthday comes from Every Day Phrases.  I stamped the bee 3 times.  One is the base.  The next was stamped so that I could pop the wings up and the last one I stamped in yellow and drew in the black stripes.  I just cut the body out and glued it to the layer with the wings folded up.

I think I'm going to set this card aside for my son's girlfriend.  Her birthday is in October and she loves bees.

I Brake for Outdoorsmen!

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  I hope you are doing well.  September snuck up on me and I need to get a card out for my brother’s birthday.  He is an outdoor enthusiast, and I found this wonderful stamp that I know he will love!

I first masked off part of my card front. I then sponged green and brown distress oxide ink over the area.  I added some blue to the top to get another color of green. I spritzed this with water to get marks and then stamped over top.

I could have done this in landscape, the stamp is big enough to cover a card that direction too.

I then used a Happy Birthday stamp from another sets and a couple enamel dots to finish this off.  Clean and simple works well for masculine cards.

The stamps I used today can be purchased at the I Brake for Stamps store.
