I Brake for Challenges - birthdays

Are you ready to play with this week's challenge over at I Brake for Challenges?? This week is all about birthdays, so that should be an easy one for all of you to play along with.

I pulled out this Birthday Girl Quinn from I Brake for Stamps and colored her with some hot pink Copic markers. I cut this out using the Out of the Nesties Box technique (Technique Junkies) and matted it with a hot pink scallop oval. The background layout is a fun and funky mix of papers and patterns and colors. I added some baker's twine for a fun twist. I love this stamp because I don't have to hunt for a sentiment - it's already on there with the little sign that she is holding.

Come play along with us over at I Brake for Challenges. You don't have to use stamps from I Brake for Stamps, but if you do, you have a chance to win free stamps! We all love free rubber, don't we? :-)

Stamps: Birthday Girl Quinn from Sarah's Girls sheet (I Brake for Stamps)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento
CS: Melon Mambo, White, Pink Pirouette, Lime Twist papers from My Mind's Eye
Other: oval dies, Copic markers, baker's twine (The Twinery - Honeydew & Blossom)
TJ Technique: Out of the Nesties Box

It's Challenge Time!

Hello Lovely Ladies,

It's Wednesday, so that means a new challenge over on the IBFS Challenge blog today. The theme this week is 'Birthdays!' I hope you're able to play along, and you'll be that much more prepared for the next birthday on your calendar by having a card already made up. :c)

My card today is using the Large Summertime Birdhouse stamp (Item #EA425S); which I colored in using my Promarkers. I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the flower centers to really make them pop.

My Pastor's wife has a birthday on Thursday and she LOVES birdhouses, so I really hope she likes her card. I love this gorgeous stamp. Did I mention that it's huge? It measures about 3 1/2" x 5 3/4" so makes a great focal point. I made the overall card to measure 7 1/4" x 5 1/4"; which isn't a size that I get to create with very often.

Super fun Birthday challenge! Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure and check out the challenge blog HERE.

Happy Creating,
Robyn

Shallow Shadow Box

HI Everyone! Happy Friday!

Not sure what else to call this except its a Shallow Shadow Box-I have had this for a while, and it wanted to be used today :) What fun this was! I just painted the Shadow Box black using a Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber to begin with. For the background I used this technique from Tim Holtz and the Postage Stamp Background. I added some old french text that I sponged with Tea Dye and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks and I attached them to the shadow box with Gel Medium. Stamped out the Charming Couple from the Photo Booth Sheet (one of my long time favorites from the Time To Stamp line {grin}) and layered them onto some black cardstock. I stamped the image one more time and attached it to some chipboard and attached it onto the middle of the piece I stamped 3 times. I wrapped some rusty wire around it and attached a rusty key. I wanted more attention drawn to the main image, so I dry brushed some Gesso. Finished it off by stamping out "promise" from the journaling sheet onto a piece of scrap paper that I rubbed with the Wild Honey Distress stain :)

Whitewashed Fence & Cowgirl

Howdy, y'all! It's Holly posting today. Howdya like this cute little cowgirl??? This is my project for the challenge this week over at I Brake For Challenges. This is an inspiration challenge, and there is the cutest inspiration picture over on the challenge blog. I was inspired by the red and white polka dot dress, and I added the white polka dots on the red boot, the red bandanna, and the red bow in the little cowgirl's hair.

The fence and the background were transformed by using the Simple Whitewash technique from Technique Junkies. This technique just exactly what I needed to go with this sweet little cowgirl. The cowgirl - Chelsea with Pony - is from the Sarah's Girls sheet over at I Brake for Stamps. I added some die cut clouds and some little strips of red cardstock for a little pop of color.

I hope you play along with this fun challenge from I Brake for Challenges. You don't have to use stamps from I Brake for Stamps, but if you do, you have a chance to win free stamps.

Stamps: Chelsea with Pony from Sarah's Girls sheet (I Brake for Stamps)
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento
CS: Kraft, White, Red, Linen Closet dp (DCWV)
Other: white gel pen, Copic markers, gesso, fence die, cloud die
TJ Technique: Simple Whitewash

Brakefast Club 'Winged Theme' Swap Card...

Hello Everyone, it's Robyn here today. I hope you're having a fabulous Wednesday!

Today's card is from a swap that I participated in over at The Brakefast Club. We were to create a simple card with a "winged theme." So, this is what I came up with.

Winged theme swap card
The stamp that I used is called Eagle and Verse and is available from I Brake for Stamps. I really love the verse of Scripture that's on it. It can be used for a card of encouragement as well as for making a great masculine card.

The flower is one of the Wild Orchid Crafts Mixed Blooms available through IBFS. I needed to mail this so it had to go nicely in an envelope. I added a flat-backed pearl but it still mailed out fine. Hope you like seeing it.

Also, be sure and check out the I Brake for Stamps new Challenge Blog! Fun challenges and a new one posted today!

Make it a great day! Thanks for stopping by! xx

Birthday Girl & Live 2 Ride

Hi, Regan here! I have two projects to share with you this week!

The first project is a fun and super cute birthday card for that special little girl in your life!
I used the Be My Valentine Girl stamp which is one of my all time favorites!!

I chose to use a sketch this week from Unscripted Sketches.

After some stamping, fussy cutting and paper piecing here is what I came up with....

Isn't it darling!? I just love the way it turned out.
This stamp is so super versatile!

The next project is a masculine layout I created for the Technique Junkies Stampbooking Blog Hop to promote the new Stampbooking CD that I Brake For Stamps is carrying! I used the Numbers Background stamp along with the Fancy Frames tutorial (by our very own Jane Bosi) to create this layout of my Dad.

For more photos and details for both projects, please visit my blog Emora Designs.

I hope you were inspired to take a second look at your stamps today!

Thank you for stopping by,

I just recently got this wonderful stamp. Although it is a background stamp, I used it as the main image on this card. I used a technique from Tim Holtz's book Compendum of Curiosities called Dabber Resist.

I Brake for Challenges #2

It's Holly posting today! Are y'all ready for the second challenge from I Brake for Challenges? This week is all about techniques. If you are a member of Technique Junkies, pick a tech and share your artwork with us. You can find all kinds of techniques on the internet such as polished stone or paper piecing. If you are a Tim Holtz fan, show us your Tim-inspired creation.

For my project, you might be stumped as to what technique I actually used here. If you look very closely at the "white" space around the princess, you will see a very pale pink "frame" around her. I used Wisped Frames - a fun technique from Technique Junkies.

This sweet princess is one of the girls from the Sarah's Girls stamp sheet at I Brake for Stamps. Princess Mary is colored with Copic markers, and I added some pearls to the top of her crown. The flowers are also from I Brake for Stamps; they are found in the Wild Orchid flowers section (such GORGEOUS flowers!).

Come play with us this week over at the I Brake for Challenges blog! We'd love to see what techniques you are using on your artwork! :-)

Stamps: Princess Mary from the Sarah's Girls stamp sheet
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Spun Sugar distress
CS: White, Brushed Silver, patterned paper (Creative Imaginations)
Other: oval dies, copic markers, pearls, sponge, ribbon, silver glitter pen, Wild Orchid flowers (I Brake for Stamps)
TJ Technique: Wisped Frames

Vintage Sewing Machine

Hi Ladies, it's Robyn here with a vintage card share...

I created this thank you card for a sweet elderly lady that just did some sewing for my daughters. The background stamp is the vintage sewing machine from I Brake for Stamps. It's very intricate and detailed. The card base is Kraft, the patterned paper is from the Mariposa stack, and the sewing machine due cut was cut with my Cricut E2 (I added Rick Candy Stickles to it). The seam binding is from Wild Orchid Crafts, and the true vintage button came from my stash.

Be sure and check out I Brake for Stamps!

Hope everyone is having a great day! xx

I Brake for Challenges!!!

Hey folks! It's Holly posting today. I Brake For Challenges and so does Jane Bosi! Jane and I decided to have some fun challenging each other with stamps from I Brake for Stamps. What makes this even more special is the new I Brake for Challenge BLOG!!! That's right - there's a new blog dedicated to fun weekly challenges where you can see more awesome IBFS artwork. I hear tell there might be PRIZES involved for some lucky folks who play along with these challenges!!!

This month Jane and I are focusing on the fun Sarah's Girls from I Brake For Stamps, and today's challenge is all about MUSIC.

Now which girl do you think I picked for this challenge?? LOL! No brainer, right??? LOL iPod Hailey is perfect for this challenge, and I was thinking of my nieces with their headphones when I was creating this card. They like bright, fun colors, so I had to go with neon pink and lime green and a bright sunny yellow.

The tiny little iPod case is paper pieced with the same lime green patterned paper you see in the background. The image is colored with Copic markers, and I actually tried the Copic Texturizing technique (from Technique Junkies)on the pink dress and boots. Unfortunately, it didn't show up very well no matter what angle I used for my picture. I added the ribbon tabs and black buttons for some fun textural interest.

Join us again next Wednesday on the I Brake for Challenges blog to see what our next challenge will be. Be sure to sign up as a follower or email subscriber so you don't miss out on any of the fun challenges!

Stamps: iPod Hailey from Sarah's Girls sheet
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento
CS: Black, White, Daffodil, DeLovely (Cosmo Cricket)
Other: Copics, buttons, yellow ribbon
TJ Techniques: Copic Texturizing, Paper Piecing

To see the complete album in detail see the videos PART 1 and PART 2 on my YouTube channel.
