I Brake for Clean & Simple!

Hello! I have really been enjoying the flowers this spring.  It has been rather cool and all the blooms have lasted so much longer than usual.

For my card today, I decided to use some bright spring colors and flowers. I heat embossed this image on plain cardstock, then sponged over top with Distress Oxide inks in Tumbled Glass and Twisted citron. I really liked the color the blended in between.

Here is a quick view of the stamp set I used, Half Sheet 138B.

Thank you for visiting today and happy stamping!

I Brake for Mix n Match Flowers!

Hello!  Today’s card was designed using flowers from a couple different stamp sets.

I first stamped the silhouette flower by inking it up with two colors of blue ink.  I do not have any fancy ombré ink pads, so this is an easy way to get a similar look.  I cut this into a tag and edged it with green ink.

For my embellishment, I stamped an outline flower onto some scrap teal cardstock and I cut it out. I used glitter glue on the center.  Then I placed this over a bow on my card to create a hand done embellishment.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post!  The stamps are all available for purchase in the I Brake for Stamps store!

Happy Stamping!

I Brake for Birthday Flowers!

Hello from designer, Heidi!  I used this stamp a couple weeks ago with an artsy stamping technique, but wanted to use it again to show the pretty detail of the stamp.

First, I used watercolors to created a background.  This time, I used mixed media paper.  I die cut the paper, then stamped the floral silhouette in black ink.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set, available in the I Brake for Stamps store: Half Sheet 138B.

Thanks for your visit today, and happy stamping!!

I Brake for Asters!

Hello!  Did you know that September’s Birth Flower is the Aster?  That isn’t a big surprise as you may see them for sale all over during the early fall.  I made this card for my friend, whose birthday is in just a couple days!

I tried to color the image in what I think is the quintessential color for an Aster, a pretty periwinkle. I used a blue and a purple alcohol marker to get this look.  I die cut the image, and then with the die in place, sponged light blue distress ink over top, to get the delicate white frame.

I like to decorate the inside by stamping the flower in a very light ink with the sentiment over top.

Like all the stamps in the Birth flower series, this is available as both a regular size and a Jumbo size. The stamp I used is the regular one.

Sentiment from Half Sheet 138B

I sure appreciate your visiting the blog today!  Happy Stamping!

I Brake for Brusho Stamping!

Hello everyone.  I am sharing a card I made this week with a bit of a different stamping technique. I stamped with Brusho powders.  Any of the watercolor powders would work with this technique and it gives a neat look.

This is the process. 1: Spritz rubber stamp with water.  2: Sprinkle Brusho powders over the wet stamp.  I used yellow, green and blue powders. 3: Spritz again with water to mix colors.  4: Stamp onto watercolor paper.

This is a very loose look and will be a bit different each time.  I let my garden dry, and then stamped over top of it with the fence stamp. I added a few flower sequins to the garden, just for fun. I just adore this sentiment, don’t you?

All the stamps are from Half Sheet 138B.

Thanks for visiting! Happy Stamping!

I Brake for Giraffes

Hello!  I just received this wonderful set of stamps called Half Sheet 138B and I had to start out with the wonderful giraffe images.

I started by stenciling over some yellow textured cardstock with Distress Oxide inks. I used Fired Brick in the center, and then blended out with Carved Pumpkin and finally Fossilized Amber on the outside.

I then used Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink to stamp the images right over top.  After die cutting the panel, I added this sweet sentiment. I think I am going to use this for non-traditional a baby card.

Here is the entire stamp set. I can’t wait to use the other images!

Thanks for visiting! Happy Stamping!

I Brake For Bisters

{jane bosi}

Happy Monday, Brakers!!

Today, I'm bringing you a colorful and texture full project I created using those fabulous Bisters!

I started by masking off the edges of a piece of watercolor paper with low tack tape.  Afterwards, I applied a sprinkling of Red, Yellow and Natural bisters.  To activate the bisters, I spritzed with a generous amount of water. I used a considerable amount of water because I wanted a blended, watercolored effect.  You can control the outcome of your bister art by controlling the application and amount of water you use.  It's fun to play around to see what you can make happen!

I moved the saturated color around a bit by rolling my paper and using a heat gun.  Again, the outcome is influenced by all of these events.  At one point, I removed some of the color with a paper towel and, I didn't like it!  So, I just added more water and rolled the paper around a bit more.

When the piece was completely dry, I stamped the beautiful silhouette garden image from Stamp Half Sheet 138B.  Because I wanted to maintain the clean paper frame, I only removed the low tack tape after stamping the image.  Next, I mounted the art piece on a portion of black cardstock and added a random, sloppy stitch around the border.  I have a little mini Janome machine I keep loaded for stamping projects.  It's a handy little thing and a nice way to add texture to a project.

To complete my card, I added a punched shape with the sentiment, also from the Half Sheet 138B.  It reads: "Friends overlook your broken fence and admire your garden."  What a sweet idea......

That's it for me, friends!
TTFN & don't forget the awesome!
