Sunflower sympathy

Hello and happy Saturday!

Today I'm sharing a sympathy card that was a special request from my husband.  About 7 yrs. ago he started traveling to Canada on business.  He made friends with a man who subcontracts with his company and whenever he goes up there they golf or go to dinner.  Unfortunately,  after a 7 yr. battle with brain cancer this man's wife passed away.  She was only 42.

Her favorite flower was the sunflower and her favorite colors were pink and aqua.  I was lucky enough to have a paper pad that was FULL of sunflower themed papers and many of them in this pretty aqua shade.  I also believe everything happens for a reason.  Last month when I placed my I Brake For Stamps order I chose almost exclusively flowers.  This LARGE SUNFLOWER was in my order.

I paired the flower with the verse WITH SYMPATHY.

Though my husband will tell people I'm a talented cardmaker he almost never comments on any card I make.  He told me at least 3 times how pretty and perfect this card would be for his friend.  I hope so.  I've met him and he's a wonderful person.  I can't believe he's going through this at only 40 yrs. old.

Here's a close up of the beautiful verse from IBFS.

I Brake For a Beach Babe ...

Hello IBFS fans !!

It's Crystal here and today I am thinking about warmer weather ( I am so over Winter ) and sand between my toes , so today's card is a beach theme Birthday card . My image is from the IBFS 103 senior 1/2 sheet , she so reminds me of the Coppertone little girl all grownup , I had so much fun coloring her and I love the tan line I gave her lol. My Happy Birthday sentiment is from  half sheet #052 and the inside sentiment is from half sheet #047 . I did a little machine stitching and distressed the edges and added a few layers , the paper were a great jumping point for this card , they totally matched the image , the 6x6 paper pad is an Echo Park "Paradise Beach" set from my stash .I stamped my sentiment on vellum so the paper showed through and you did not lose any eye candy there.

I Brake for Birthdays

Good morning peeps, Beth here again this week with another birthday card for IBFS......my card today was inspired by something I saw in Craft Ideas magazine except mine did not come out looking exactly like the one I was trying to do.

I have used the outline stamps from the Floral Sheet on this card with distress inks and Tattered Angels spray....my images are stamped on water colored paper with white ink and white embossing powder sponged on different distress inks and then spritz them with water....cut a tag out of vellum stamped the birthday sentiment from Half Sheet 138B with black ink....then added some bakers twine along with some silver bling.

Hope you have liked my card and I will see you next week.
Hugs
Beth

I Brake For Strong Men....

{jane bosi}

Admit it.  Masculine cards are hard.  I struggle, I know others do too.  But I really wanted to use this weight lifter image from Half Sheet 139A.  Smaller images can pose a problem too.  I did what I always do when I'm a bit stuck......I found a sketch that worked perfectly!

For the orange cardstock, I repeatedly stamped the "Enjoy the good life" sentiment from the full sheet, Beach Theme.  Instead of using a watermark ink (like versamark) for a more subtle look, I went with ink the same color as the cardstock for a bolder look.  Afterward, I added a little sponging to the edges for a completed look.

To add to the masculine feel of the card, I added a designer paper and coordinating paper in tones of blue--not necessarily colors I'm drawn too, but I think all together, it works.

A few star sequins and some piercing, complete the whole thing!

So, go ahead.......try a boy card!  Someone in your life needs a paper hug!

Don't forget to be awesome!

I Brake For Dogwoods!

Hello and happy Saturday!

Today I'm sharing a get well card with you.
I used a beautiful new image I got from I Brake For Stamps.
It's called LARGE DOGWOOD.

I also finally got brave enough to try out the new
 BISTER stains IBFS is offering.
I've been putting it off because I was so unsure about how to use them and if I'd be able to pull it off.  I did a small 2" sample to practice and almost instantly decided you really can't screw it up!  There's no wrong way for it to turn out.  I used the blue and yellow on my card this time.  It was so easy.  All I did was mist my paper with water, drop a couple of specks of the powders onto the paper.  I then just picked it up and tilted it this way and that until the entire thing was covered. After the paper was completely dry I stamped the image and verse which is from
I then colored in the flowers with Copic markers until they stood out a bit from the background.

I Brake For Bisters, AGAIN........

{Jane Bosi}
Happy Monday, Brakers!  I'm coming at you from dreary, freezing Wisconsin with some spring hope and garden floral cards!

I'm using Floral Half Sheet A and Floral Half Sheet B on both cards today.  I love these whimsical images!
I also love when a set comes with a sentiment or two!  You'll notice both sheets are full of floral images and sentiment words--such versatility!

It's no lie, I'm a bit addicted to the Bisters!  They are super fun to work with, but do take some experimentation!  It's definitely a color medium that requires you to follow!

That's all for today!  Thanks for looking and don't forget to be awesome!

I Brake for Two Feathers

Good morning all.....Beth here with a card using 3 different stamps from I Brake For Stamps.....don't know if you have been seeing all the cards out there using feathers but I have been loving them.....my card today was made from some inspiration I got from Pinterest not sure who inspired me as I haven't got a name, but anyhow this is what I came up with.

The 3 stamps used on this project are Two Feathers, word background stamp from Half Sheet 129A, and Remember When from Half Sheet 129B.

Okay now for the details......using frayed burlap I stamped the script on to white card stock using a torn mask made out of copy paper....next I used Memento Black Noir to stamp my feather image off to the side of the script...lastly the sentiment was also stamped with memento....mounted l image layer onto black card stock then onto a white card......added some black flat sided beads just to dress it up a bit......and that does it definitely a CAS.

Hope you have enjoyed my post and will give it a try......till next week have a good one.

Hugs
Beth

I Brake For Asian Flowers....

{jane bosi}
Happy Monday, Brakers!  Today I have a floral card to share.  For some reason, I was busy thinking about my niece, Lily, over the weekend.  She was born in China and this wonderful set, Asian Full Sheet, always makes me think of her!

Not a flower girl, I don't even know what to call these beautiful floral images, but I sure do like them!

I added the flowers to a background technique called Aged Text Boards to create an interesting focal image piece.  After coloring all of the florals with copic markers, I added a few sequins for some shimmer and called it a day!

It's an easy card to make....why not give it a go?

TTFN & Don't forget the awesome!
