I Brake for Flowery Cats!

Cats plus flowers make me happy. The Purrfect Day Cats rubber stamp sheet (Stampinback), available at I Brake for Stamps makes me really happy ecstatic because the sheet includes TEN floral cat silhouettes, four paw prints, two sentiments, one fish skeleton, and one matching flower for a total of 18 fabulous images on the sheet which means you'll be seeing LOTS of flowery cat creations from me! By the way, IBFS ships internationally.

Here's my card with one of the ten floral kitties!

Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink was smooshed (technical term) onto my craft mat, spritzed with water, then 140 lb. Mixed Media cardstock (Strathmore) was dragged through the diluted ink and heat set. This step was repeated with Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink, then Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. When I was happy with the coverage,  Post-It Notes were placed across the cardstock and Peeled Paint Distress Oxide ink was sponged over top. I wasn't really thrilled with the color, so I sponged Peeled Paint Distress and Mowed Lawn Grass Distress ink over top.

Using my stamp positioner, the kitty from the Purrfect Day Cats sheet was stamped with Onyx Black VersaFine ink . I had to re-ink the stamp and stamp it again to get better coverage, most likely because inept. I can't wait to get ahold of the of one of the new trendy stamp positioner systems so that I don't have to be quite so careful when re-stamping an incomplete image! Anyway, I touched up the image using a Black Pitt Artist Brush pen.

A shadow was added under the cat using a Warm Grey Pitt Artist Brush pen.

The image panel was die-cut with one of a scalloped rectangle die. A larger plain rectangle die, a "Purr-fect" sentiment die, and the "Just" die were used to die-cut black cardstock. The image panel was matted with the plain black rectangle die-cut. The sentiment was adhered in place.

The leftover Distress Oxide sponged cardstock was die-cut with a Butterfly die ) and punched with a tiny dragonfly punch. The butterflies and the dragonflies were a bit boring, so I added Distress ink to them to perk 'em up a bit. My black marker was used to detail their bodies and edge them, then Black  Glitter pen was used to add a touch of glitter to them. The insects were adhered to the image panel and a Clear Glitter pen was used to add flight trails. The cardfront was adhered to a rust card.

I Brake for Sailboats!

I love the ocean and I love to sail, though I don't get to do so very frequently. I guess that's why sailboats, beach scenes, and ocean-life stamps always appeal to me.

I recently received my long awaited set of Distress Oxide inks and after playing around a tiny bit, decided to try to create a seascape tag using them. 

A tag was die-cut from mixed media cardstock, then sponged with Distress Oxide inks. When I was happy with the result, the sailboat from the Always Time for Friendship Half Sheet was stamped onto the tag with Jet Black Archival ink. I colored the image using pigment and India ink markers. 

The gulls and the compass were stamped with with Jet Black Archival ink (Ranger). A white gel pen was used to add sea foam and white caps to the ocean. 

Three colors of hemp twine were added to finish the tag.

I Brake for Blue Poppies!

It's the second day of spring, snow is on the ground, and it's still chilly here in the Northeast. I'm yearning for warm days and flowers, so I decided to go floral with the poppies/text image from the Half Sheet Numbers and Flowers (Stampinback stamps) carried at I Brake for Stamps. By the way, IBFS ships internationally!

Here's my card.

The poppies/text image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink (ImagineCrafts) onto wood patterned paper. The poppies were colored with Copic markers to match a photo of gorgeous blue poppies that I found on Google images. As a Virgo, I sometimes usually like to be accurate. I used a wet brush to loosely draw around the perimeter of the image, then tore on the wet lines. The poppies part of the image was outlined with a Copic marker, then the text and dot part of the image were sponged with Distress inks.

I recently rediscovered my sprays and decided that they weren't evil after all! In fact, they're rather fun to use! A corrugated cardboard rectangle (reserved packaging) was sprayed with various blue sprays until I was happy with the result. The excess ink was mopped up with a second corrugate rectangle, a white tag, and a short length of white lace.

A stencil was placed atop the sprayed corrugate, then a pearlescent white spray was misted over top to create a pattern and some shimmer. The sprayed shimmery corrugate was heat set, then the top layer was torn in a few spots to reveal the texture below. Some Distress ink was sponged onto the revealed layers to change the color a bit. 

The image panel was adhered, the dyed lace was stapled on, and three small dragonfly charms were added.

I found a sheet of script patterned paper in my stash, which I cut down, then used Jet Black Archival ink  with the dot patterned stamp from the Half Sheet Numbers and Flowers rubber sheet to stamp the dot pattern several times. The dotty script panel was sponged with the same mix of Distress inks used on the image panel. 

The corrugate matted image panel was adhered to the card front, glitter stickers from my stash were used to add the sentiment, and the card front was adhered to a blue 5x7 card.

I Brake for Fashinonista

Good morning peeps, Beth here with another card for you this week and have decided to use a couple of stamps from the More Fashionista Half Sheet from Stampinback and sold at I Brake For Stamps.

These stamps are pretty easy to work with not a lot of coloring as you can see I decided just to make the clothes hair and accessories pop and also went a little bold with my colors....the designer paper is from a Recollections pad called Painted Fancy.....colored my image with Stampin-Up markers.....used oranges, blue, and white card stock, border punch Martha Stewart, and Spellbinder dies.
