Stained Glass Flowers Card

 Hello from design team member, Heidi.  The I Brake for Stamps shop has a wonderful selection of Stained Glass stamps.  I decided to use this one today because the diamond shape really caught my eye!

I heat embossed the stamp with white powder on watercolor paper.  I then colored in the sections with Tombow water-based markers.  I then blended the color, section by section, with a paintbrush dipped in water that I had mixed with Perfect Pearls.  It is really obvious in person, but only the close-up photo shows the lovely shimmer!  

I was in a bit of a traditional mood, so I finished off the card with old patterned papers from my stash and some gems.

I Brake for Floral Split Cards!

Hello!  I recently tried a technique for making two cards using one panel and I wanted to share this with you.  You can see the original idea in this video, but I know many people prefer to quickly browse a photo tutorial, so I am adding a tutorial on how I made these specific cards.

First, I stamped the Dahlia onto some Brusho backgrounds. I was able to stamp one and a half flowers on each background, the colors were Yellow Ochre, Rose Red and Terra-cotta.  I trimmed these out.  

Then, I used a sheet of cardstock 5.25 inches by 8.5 inches, marking the halfway point with a pencil line.

I dry fit my flowers in a way I thought might look good.

I also used a sheet of paper to look how each half of the card looked on its own.  

Then I glued down all the flowers and cut the panel in half.  My guillotine trimmer cut through all the layers easily.  

I finished the cards off with a heat embossed sentiment from the same set on a die cut label.  I also added some black Nuvo drops.  I could have used the background in any orientation, but I kept them the same as they were originally.  (You might have noticed, on the left card, I added an extra little scrap of a flower to fill it out.)

I also wanted to show you how I finished off the inside of the Thinking of You card with the Memories Comforts You stamp.  This is my favorite sympathy sentiment.

I Brake for Sympathy

Hello stampers!  I am sharing a pretty Sympathy card today.  Often, I find a clean and simple look works well for these.  

I simply stenciled over the left side of my card panel and then stamped the silhouette over top.  I then coordinated the inside of the card by just using a lighter touch over my stencil, and stamping my favorite Sympathy sentiment.

I Brake for Dahlias!

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  I would like to share a clean and simple card idea with you today.  

I wanted to use this very large Dahlia stamp.  It is so pretty and really makes a statement!  I stamped it over a watercolored background I had made.  I tend to make several of these  watercolor backgrounds at one time, and then I have them on hand.  I fussy cut out the flower.  

Next, I simply stamped the same flower twice on my card panel. I just eyeballed where the middle was and stamped in Pool ink on both halves. The sentiment is one of three from the same stamp set, and it says “Simply Enjoy it All.”  A fun sentiment and I don’t have anything else like it in my collection.  I popped my watercolor flower up on foam adhesive.

I Brake for Goldfinches!

Hello from design team member, Heidi!  I am definitely a bird lover, so when I saw that the American Goldfinches in my yard were molting into their beautiful breeding plumage, I had to get out this stamp!

 I colored him with alcohol markers.  A male American Goldfinch is a lovely bright yellow color all over, but I wanted to add a bit of shadow and texture so I added some light grey marker here and there.
