Cozy Cat in a Quilt

Hello from design team member, Heidi! I was feeling chilly the day I made this card so I was using cozy things like cats and quilts.

I first made a background with Distress Oxide inks, water and an embossing folder. I inked up my white cardstock with a brown and green inks.  I then spritzed the embossing folder with some water and closed it over the inked paper so the water would transfer to the paper. You don’t run it through your machine, just open it back up and let the water evaporate so you get the pattern on the paper.  It is a subtle pattern, but very pretty.  The same sweater embossing folder is the background of the card. You can find this old technique  explained in photos here

I stamped over the background with my quilt stamp and cut it out.

Then, I stamped my cat on kraft cardstock.  I applied nail polish to parts of it with a metal tool.  I did two layers because the first layer sinks in a little.  I then fussy cut the cat out.

I really like how this turned out!

I Brake for Hearts Quilts!

Hello everyone!  This is design team member, Heidi, and today I am sharing with you a Valentine card that is my most favorite of this year!

I stamped the quaint Heart Quilt stamp on some pink cardstock. I then used alcohol markers in a few shades of red to color it in, and added white gel pen and glitter pen for accents.  I mounted it with fun foam over some white, textured cardstock.  The Love sentiment is from the Wedding Sheet stamp set.

Hope you all have a lovely Valentine’s Day!

I Brake For.....Heart Quilt!

Hello stampers, Nancy here today!!  Now that we are done with Christmas and New Years celebration, the next holiday on the horizon is Valentine's Day.  You are already seeing hearts and flowers all over the place, but how about a nice warm quilt?

The stamp is called Heart Quilt and can be found here.

I love the homespun look of the image.  And while I used it for a Valentine's Day card here, I can see this being used for a wedding card, or even a birthday card for a quilt maker.  My sister makes quilts and this image would be perfect for a card for here.

The color scheme possibilities are endless here.  I pulled out an old pad of Basic Grey paper that I love and used it as the inspiration for the colors of the quilt.  The pinks and reds work well for a valentine, and the touch of green softens it up.  I can see this done in a red, white and blue palette for patriotic days and how about a crisp red and white for Christmas?

Hope on over to the IBFS store - there are many love/valentine themed stamps for you to choose from.   I know you will find something there to your liking!

Thanks for stopping by today!
