I Brake For Uniqueness!

Hello and happy Saturday!
Today I'm sharing a birthday card that I made for my BFF's son.  He just turned 24 and I just knew that this image and these verses would be perfect for him.  He's a little bit sarcastic and quirky but he is ALL about family!

I Brake For Stamps had just what I had in mind.

I've used ONE IN EVERY CROWD on the front of the card.

On the inside I used TOUCAN WITH BERRY

I Brake for Happy Bears....

{jane bosi}   Happy Monday, Brakers!

Today, I have a fun little watercolored and stenciled card to share with you!  As most of my projects, this started as a bit of an experiment and some goofin' around.

It's no secret that I love Dylusions ink sprays.  I thought it would be fun to use a few on a water colored type project.  So, I started with some watercolor paper and a stencil!  After adhering the stencil with some temporary adhesive, I added some color using the Dylusions sprays and an aqua brush.  You can see that my application was rather random.....that's what I like about the watercolors---you can barely go wrong!

After the inks dried, I traced the stencil with my copic multiliner.  Later, I added the birthday sentiment frrom Sheet 138B......it scares me a bit that I no longer have to look up the reference on this sheet--I use it so much!

To pull the whole project together, I stamped, on a separate piece of water color paper, Sweet Teddy.  He's watere colored, also, using distress ink and dylusions ink.  After drying and trimming, I mounted him with some dimensional tape.

I made several things this past weekend, and had them on my table to film....my crafty girl voted the sweet teddy card her favorite.....I do agree!

May Memories Comfort You

Hello and happy Saturday.

Today I'm feeling sad.  Last Saturday a woman I know from one of my DTs lost her son.  Though I know there is no way for me to really comfort her because I can't begin to imagine what she's going through I wanted to send her a card so that she'd know I was thinking of her.

Time and time again I find myself reaching for this verse when I need a sympathy card.  It's not that I don't have others, it's just that I really love this one.

This is the envelope I made to go with it.

I Brake for Wave Watching ...

Hello IBFS fans !!

It's Crystal here and I am dreaming of warmer weather and waves splashing the beach , problem is I don't see either in my near future , lol ,so I guess I will look at my card I made using the Watching Waves image  , inside my card I used the image again stamped in ink the same color as my card stock to give a water mark look and my sentiment is Footprints in the Sand ....

IMG_3588

Today I colored my image using Prisma colored pencils and then blended out my color using paper stumps and baby oil , I love how this technique works , you can do this with any wax based colored pencil , the baby oil make the wax melt and blend out but will not leave your paper oily like you might think .I hope you give it a try. Tip ...cut a small pc of sponge and put in a small covered bowl and squirt the baby oil the sponge to just soak it but not drip , then put the lid on to store , paper stumps and be found in the isle with colored pencils .
below you can see I only colored around the edges here and there where I thought the colored would be darker then blend out the color to a lighter shade with the paper stump and baby oil

IMG_3586
I added wink of Stella in clear to the waves to add a subtle shimmer like water glistening , my gulls are hand cut I added some twine and the netting and my sentiment is a die cut from a ProvoCraft A2 cutting die with 5 different sentiments  , not sure if you can get anymore

I Brake For Women Warriors!

{jane bosi|
Happy Monday!  I have a little mixed media canvas like project to share today.  I love creating on larger canvases, but thought it would also be fun to treat a card front in a similar way.

I'm on a bit of a vibrant color kick lately and am just loving on my Dylusions Ink Sprays.  I've never been a fan of the lighter pastel shades and these ink sprays are anything but that!

The women are from the stamp sheet, Fashionistas, and I just find them to be all warrior like.  I added some extra stamping from the Diamonds Half Sheet.  I inked up the diamond backgrounder by rubbing/dabbing white acrylic paint on to the stamp surface.  It was thicker in some places and ended up providing some extra dimension and tonality.  Also, because the watercolor paper was saturated with ink (and still a bit wet) I found that the application of paint and, later mod podge, drew some of the ink's pigmentation into the paint and glue.  I like the effect it created and, even more, I like that it was complete happenstance :)

The warriors were stamped once (in archival black ink) directly to the watercolor paper and then again, on an old book page.  After trimming the images, I applied them to the card front using mod podge.

Be happy.
Be Bright.
BE YOU!

It's a whole new week---don't forget to be awesome!

I Brake For Paint

{jane bosi}
Happy Monday!!  Today's colorful card features this cute little brush image from Full Sheet 139.  The sheet, itself, is full of vintagey-kitchy images.  Stepping out of the box is a must with this sheet.....lots to be creative with!

I started with a strip of watercolor paper and a bunch of distress inks.  Any colors will do--completely up to you!  I chose a rainbow-esc palette.  After repeatedly stamping the brush image, I simply painted on distress inks using my aqua brush.   Once dry, I matted it and turned into a sweet little thank you card by adding the sentiment, "thanks so much."

Thanks for stopping by.......I hope your day is colorful!
